WDW: Day 1 - Magic Kingdom

We got up this morning and checked out of the Hampton Inn and checked into Port Orleans French Quarter. I promise they were more excited to see the Disney entrance than these pictures portray!

Julia was raising the roof! HA!
We got all checked in and ready to head to Magic Kingdom, but not before we put on leggings under the girls dresses and I changed into jeans instead of shorts. The high today was only about 68 degrees! Definitely not the warm weather I was expecting, but it was so nice not to be burning up all day!

On the bus to Magic Kingdom

We made it to Magic Kingdom just in time for lunch. I've heard all the rage about Casey's Corner but never tried it so we decided to try lunch there today. We were able to get a table outside and watch the Move it! Shake it! Dance & Play it! Parade while we ate our lunch.
Julia & Charlotte at Casey's Corner - Charlotte wasn't too sure about the baseball player!
Charlotte moving it & shaking it!
Since we told the girls about our Disney trip Julia has been talking about meeting Merida (or Meredith as she calls her). Charlotte was excited about meeting 'Punzel, but we knew we would be meeting her at dinner so we pulled up our My Disney Experience app and looked up meet and greet times. Merida was in the Enchanted Fairytale Garden so we decided to head over there so that we didn't risk missing her later in the trip.

I love this picture!
The girls loved meeting Merida, but I think they were a little starstruck! Julia told her that she was her favorite princess because they both have horses and their hair matches. They made plans for Julia & Lucy and Merida & Angus to go riding in the countryside. They even said Charlotte & Lilly could tag along.

Merida's assistant tried to pronounce the girls names based on the monograms on their dresses. He called Julia Jwa and Charlotte Cgw. The girls thought that was hilarious and Julia kept telling him those were just her initials.

After we met Merida the girls got to try their hand at archery. They both made it in the target, but they had a little help.
Next we headed over to Dumbo for our first ride of the trip! The girls were so sweet walking in and holding hands. Julia kept telling Charlotte that it was going to be fun, and what was going to happen next, etc.

The best part about Dumbo is the wait. OK, maybe not the best part but it is great. You walk into the "circus tent" and they give you a pager like you get at a restaurant. When it's your party's turn they pager goes off and you get on the ride. Inside the circus tent is a huge playground. The girls loved it.

We tried to ride Winnie the Pooh next, but the ride shut down while we were in line. The girls had fun while we were in line though!

Charlotte hadn't had a nap so we put her in the stroller and let her sleep before our dinner reservation. Michael and Julia went into see Country Bear Jamboree. I was going to wait outside for them, but I was antsy before the show even started so I ended up carrying Charlotte in and going with them. Thank goodness she slept through the whole thing, she needed a nap before our dinner with the princesses!
By the time the show was over it was time to head to our dinner reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table! We got to meet Cinderella downstairs before we headed upstairs to eat.
ADD WINDOW PICTURE
Right after we were seated all the princess came out to do their rounds. The girls loved meeting them all and it made the time pass quickly while we were waiting for our food.
I love how Charlotte is looking up at Princess Aurora in this picture.
Michael had "The Stroke of Midnight" for dessert
Julia wasn't too sure about the cheesecake
Charlotte loved her berries and yogurt
My sweet girl!
Charlotte loved the pretty windows in the staircase.
We left Cinderella's Royal Table and headed to meet Ariel in her grotto. Michael didn't understand why we had to go see Ariel again when we had just left her at Cinderella's Royal Table, but I assured him that this was totally different because she's a mermaid in her grotto and a human at the castle. This meet and greet was totally for Julia and Charlotte too. It had nothing to do with me wanting to go to Ariel's Grotto and meet her as a mermaid. :)

The girls thought it was so cool to scan their MagicBands for their FastPasses. Charlotte had to scan hers every time too even though she didn't have to have a FastPass.
Ready to see Ariel
I  had to get my picture with Ariel too!
In keeping with the Ariel theme we went from Ariel's Grotto to ride Under the Sea - Journey of The Little Mermaid.
Next we headed over to Goofy's Barnstormer for Charlotte's first roller coaster. We had to wait in line for quite a bit, almost an hour, but Charlotte loved the ride. Julia was a different story!
The girls started fading while we were waiting in line.
Ready to ride!
Goofy's Barnstormer was Julia's favorite ride on our last trip. It was a different story this time, but Charlotte loved it. She laughed the whole time - I wish I had her on video instead! Ha!

By the time we got done with Goofy's Barnstormer the girls were done so we hopped on the train and took it to the front of the park to head back to the hotel.
Enjoying a little cotton candy snack on the train
Julia discovered a Mickey Head on her arm when she took off her MagicBand.  She thought it was so cool!
We're back at the hotel in bed a little earlier than I expected, but we had a late night last night and a long day today.  Tomorrow is our first full day at Disney and we're headed to Animal Kingdom in the morning and back to Magic Kingdom tomorrow afternoon/evening. I can't wait!
