Camp, Cows, and Cupcakes!

Julia started day camp at church today. She has asked to go to camp all summer so hopefully this will satisfy her camp desire! She was so excited that they were going to the boy scout camp and doing "real camp things"!
After we dropped Julia off at camp this morning Charlotte and I made plans to go get breakfast. She loves Chick Fil A drive thru but is not a fan of going inside because of the cow, which is apparently the equivalent of a Jason mask to her. I bargained with her and promised her that the cow would not be there. It was way too early for the cow to be there, he was still at the barn taking care of chores which she thought was he funniest thing ever but agreed to go to Chick Fil A if that was true. So we pull up to Chick Fil A, open the door and the first thing out of my mouth is "oh crap. I forgot it was cow day". Every one in be building with the exception of us and 2 others are dressed up as cows. The girl ordering smiles and says "oh, I have extra spots!" as the girl behind the counter hands me a cow headband, neither of them realizing that that's the least of my worries. Charlotte is slowing tightening her death grip on my leg while trying to inch towards the door. I order, explain that she's terrified of the cow while the sweet employees try to tell her that cows are really sweet and distract her with sea turtle talk. We managed to get to a table with no tears although she hasn't left my side and I'm pretty sure my dreams of wearing her out in the playground so she'll nap good this afternoon are shattered. So, in case anyone forgot, today is Cow Appreciation Day at CFA. I'll accept my mom of the year award now.
Eventually she got distracted enough that she took a few happy pictures for me!
So, after the cow debacle I let her decide what we were doing the rest of the day. She wanted to go eat lunch at Touchdown Burgers and make pink cupcakes. She insisted on sitting outside even though it was close to 100 degrees today, but after our morning I agreed to sitting outside!
After lunch we went to the grocery store and got everything we needed to make pink cupcakes including pink icing and sugar sprinkles!
I think she forgave me for Chick-Fil-A this mornng, but I don't know if I will get her back to Chick-Fil-A anytime soon!

Pictures, Puppies, and Plays

Julia had photogenic pictures made for Future Little Miss Enterprise today. We got her done this morning so I took some pictures after she was done with her official pictures. She looked gorgeous!
The girls have been begging to take Caddy on a walk. Since it was a nice afternoon out I gave in today.  Some of my favorite quotes from are walk:
  •  "Charlotte, I'm a champion dog walker" - Julia
  • "Mom, Caddy is not just cool. He's AWESOME!" - Charlotte
Charlotte found her necklace that she made at the Pastor's PJ Party.

I've given the girls two days to clean their playroom and they've made no progress so this afternoon I locked the playroom door and told them it would stay locked for 2 days and then we would see if they could clean it up.  Charlotte apparently didn't like that because she went to our bedroom and shut and locked our bedroom door! Then tonight mom came over and they were telling her about the playroom being locked. Mom told them that maybe next time they would clean up the playroom. Charlotte responded "Or, maybe next time you'll come over and clean it for us". That child keeps us on our toes!

After dinner tonight Julia was acting out Bible Stories for us. In the picture below she was playing a Shepard. She even used a clothes pin to attach the lamb to the blanket so it would follow her!
I am so glad Julia is feeling better. She get's to celebrate her very own 100th day of school tomorrow!

Charlotte Says the Darndest Things

Tonight we were in the car on our way home from church. Julia was singing a Frozen song with the radio and getting into it with hand motions and facial expressions. I told her she was a really good singer. She responded with "Thanks. I think I might want to be a singer when I grow up". (On a side note, this is the first time she's ever said she wanted to be anything not related to horses!) Charlotte pipes in, "when I grow up I want to do the dishes. I'm going to do the dishes every day". The girl's got high ambitions! HAHA!

Sunday Funday

Today was a lazy Sunday at our house.  Julia has decided she loves running, she definitely didn't get that from me. She spent most of the evening racing up and down the driveway.
After Julia worked up her appetite we made a pecan pound cake. I found the recipe on Pinterest a few weeks ago and I've been wanting to make it ever since. Of course the girls favorite part was licking the beaters!
When I was cleaning up the kitchen the girls came out into the kitchen dressed like this. Julia said she was me and Charlotte was Michael. Charlotte said "Take our pitcher. Wait, we need to stand like you and Daddy". Apparently Michael leans into me when we take pictures! HA!
There is never a dull moment with these two girls!

Pick Your Battles

Ms. Angie posted some pictures on Facebook of today's school day. Charlotte told me that she and Ellington played today and from the looks of the pictures I would say they did!

Charlotte has refused to go into dance the past 2 weeks.  She has pitched a screaming, crying hissy fit. We've really been talking up dance this week and she told me she was going in. She was pretty adamant on wearing this leotard though. It's Julia's tap costume from last year and it has become Charlotte's favorite dress up item. She puts it on every night. I decided this was one of those times where I needed to pick my battles and this wasn't a battle worth picking. She was going to dance class after all!  The good news is she went right in without crying and said she had fun! Here's to hoping we've turned a corner and she'll keep this up!
She may have been in class, but she was doing her own thing!
The Barney song with Isla Cate & Ella

After dance Michael picked Chick Fil A & the movie "Home". I'm pretty sure that's the first movie we have ever watched that all 4 of us stayed put and awake and actually watched it. I highly recommend it!

Back to School Shopping

Mom, Nana, Julia, Charlotte & I went to Dothan this morning to do some back to school shopping. Julia wasn't really feeling the shopping in the beginning, but before we left she was begging to go to the "real" mall (we only went to Belk) so she could look at all the clothes and pick some more out for Kindergarten! She got some cute new clothes!

On the way to Dothan Mom wouldn't let Charlotte have any of her Mountain Dew. This was Charlotte's reaction. She put her turtle over her eyes and pouted the whole way to Dothan! Mom finally offered her some and she still wouldn't take it! She just wanted to pout!
'
Julia and I walked out into the mall so she could "see all the clothes they had for Kindergarten". This bus was in the middle of the mall and she wanted her picture made with it. She posed all by herself and then told me to take one closer up so we could see her face better!
When we were leaving Dothan a realtor called and wanted to show our house this afternoon so Mom and I rushed home and cleaned the house. Prayers that she is our buyer!

After we cleaned the house we were running some errands and I let Charlotte look at pictures on my phone to try to keep her satisfied. Apparently my phone wasn't doing what she wanted it to do because she got frustrated and yelled "This damn phone won't work! What is wrong with it?!" I thought I was going to die, at least we were in the car where no one else could hear her! Just another reminder that her little ears hear everything!

Baby Powder

Michael was gone tonight and Julia and I were in the living room. I noticed that Charlotte was suspiciously quiet. I walked in her room to this. You can tell by the look on her face that she was really sorry.  What you can't see in this picture is that she also dumped it all in her bed and on all her stuffed animals and baby dolls. It was also all down the hallway into the living room. Never a dull moment around here!

Monday

We were up early this morning so I decided to go ahead and run our errands and get them out of the way. One of our last errand was to drop something off at Nana and Pop's. When I went to get Charlotte out of the car she was sound asleep at 9:00 in the morning! I was sure she would wake up when I got her out of her car seat but she was out!
We ran the rest of our errands and then went back to Nana and Pop's for lunch. The girls love when Daddy eats lunch with us!
While we were at Nana and Pop's Julia got this notepad and wrote her list on it for her birthday party. She said that I was I charge of wrapping the presents, Nana was in charge of blowing up the balloons, Uncle Tom was in charge of tying the balloons, Michael was in charge of making sure the balloons don't pop, Pop was in charge of setting up the games, and she was in charge of the cake! It sounds like she's going to be a party planner!
Like most homes with young children our house is Frozen obsessed right now. Julia got this Frozen castle as a bribe for going to the dentist and the girls have had a blast playing with it!
