The Big Reveal

Class lists were posted at Hillcrest today. I can remember always be excited and anxious to find out who my teacher was going to be and to find out which friends would be in my class. Julia has wanted Mrs. Trawick for second grade since about Christmas, but she got another job at Hillcrest last week and won't be teaching second grade anymore! Julia is excited to be in Mrs. Dear's class, but is more excited about having Tucker, Lexi, David, and Jackson in her class. She already knows lots of friends in her class! Tomorrow is Open House and school starts Friday!

New Schools

This morning we registered Charlotte for her new school. She'll be attending the Mom's Day Out Program at First Methodist. It's called Stepping Stones, but Charlotte is calling it "Step Rocks!
The class lists were posted at 4:00 this afternoon at Hillcrest. We went to see who Julia's 1st grade teacher will be. She had to take her camera with her so she could take a picture of her class list. She is SO my child! She's excited to be in Miss Ward's class, but even more excited that Lucy and Rolin will be in her class!
Ready to see who her teacher will be!
I can't believe that school starts back Monday! Summer wasn't long enough!

Back to School Prep!

Julia has been asking for a hair cut for a few months now and today was finally the day. She got about 5" cut off. Unfortunately it was not enough to donate but I couldn't go any shorter! Here are a few before and afters of her new 'do!

This afternoon we went to Target to get her school supplies for 1st grade! She had fun picking out all the things on her (long) list.
Charlotte was just excited for her candy!
Searching for the perfect notebook
Julia's also been asking to go eat at Olive Garden all summer so to finish off our Julia Day we went to Olive Garden before we headed home. I think she's all ready for 1st grade now, I just don't know if I am!

Charlotte's First Day of School, Blue Day & Reading!

Charlotte slept late this morning. She knew she was going to have a busy day at school and she wanted to get every second of beauty sleep in this morning!
She chose a pop-tart for breakfast but I don't think she ate more than two bites. She was too excited!
Julia has been talking about going back to school since the last day of school in May. She was so excited when she got up this morning and realized that today was finally school day. I was teasing her and asked if she wanted to just stay home today and she did NOT like that idea! She told me that she was going to school today! I love that both my girls loves school.
She walked straight into her classroom and sat down without even glancing back. It was SUCH a drastic improvement from last year! They had play-doh out to play with and she walked right in and started playing.
When I got home I asked Charlotte how school was and what she did. She told me that they played, colored, painted, and ate. When I asked her if she had a good day she said "yes, but Tindol's not in my class!"  I guess she was still hoping Tindol would be in her class today!

Here's a side by side of Charlotte on the first day of school last year and this year. Look at how much my sweet baby has grown!
Today was Blue Day for Julia. We attempted a picture before and after school but she wasn't particularly cooperative either time! She said they colored Pete the Cat's shoe and had blue cupcakes for snack!
Julia got her homework folder for the first time tonight. It had a book in there that she's supposed to read to us three nights before she can get a new one.  She read the whole book by herself! I was SO proud and she was too!
I'm so proud of both my girls, I just can't believe how fast they're growing up!

Kindergarten Prep!

The girls did not want to get moving this morning! I originally planned to do a "dry run" for tomorrow morning and get Julia up, fed and dressed before we left the house but she was sleeping too goo this morning. I couldn't make myself wake her up!

I took Julia to get a back-to-school pedicure this afternoon. She was SO excited. She picked orange and blue for her toes for Auburn, because Ms. Parker likes Auburn too. :)
We celebrated the end of summer/beginning of kindergarten with ice cream from Dairy Queen before bed. The girls thoroughly enjoyed it!
Mom made Julia's nap mat cover. I'm sure no one's surprised it has horses on it! Julia had to show Daddy how it worked and then Charlotte had to test it out.
Julia was so excited to sprinkle her glitter that Ms. Parker gave her under her pillow.  I can't believe this sweet girl starts Kindergarten tomorrow. Where has the time gone?

Sprinkling the glitter
Her lunch is packed, her clothes are laid out, and her backpack is by the door. She's ready for Kindergarten, I just hope I am!
