Deck the Halls!

The girls were excited to see what Tinsel and Jingle did this morning. Today they brought the girls ornaments for the tree. Julia is obviously a photographer's daughter, when she saw the elves she had to go get her camera to take their picture!
This afternoon we watched the Iron Bowl. We went low key and watched it at our house while we dug out Christmas decorations, but the girls did wear the Auburn dresses. It was 75 degrees today so there was no need for long sleeves or boots! Auburn didn't win, but we still love our tigers anyway!
After the game we ate leftovers, put on Christmas PJ's and decorated the Christmas tree! The girls were SO excited. Charlotte was precious, she kept saying things like "our tree is gorgeous" and "Mama, this is so much fun". They also divided up the tree. The side closest to the door is Julia's side and the side farthest from the door is Charlotte's side. They made sure to hang their ornaments on "their" sides!
The tree's a little bottom heavy this year. :)
We've had the best time today decorating. I can't believe the Christmas season is here!

Gobble Gobble

Julia has been asking to make turkey cupcakes for days so we finally went to the grocery store and got the stuff to make them along with the rest of our groceries for Thanksgiving. Every single buggy that we passed in the grocery store got a "happy Thanksgiving" from the girls.

The girls loved making the cupcakes this afternoon. I'm pretty sure their favorite part was licking the batter bowl!
She was so proud of her turkey!
I would say we're well on our way to being ready for Thanksgiving!

Sunday

We have spent most of the afternoon cleaning our house. It's been a while since we've done a good, deep clean and our house is finally getting shown tomorrow. I hope this is our buyer! Cleaning is certainly not how I wanted to start my break, but at least it's done and the house is clean!

Charlotte refused to take a nap when we got home from church but we found her passed out on the floor this evening. I guess she couldn't take the cleaning anymore!

The girls table got ruined with paint at Charlotte's birthday party so today I finally got around to painting it using chalkboard paint. The girls think it's the coolest thing ever! They sat there for close to an hour drawing and erasing.

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

The girls and I stared the day off with a canned food drive with their Coffee County Southeast Alabama sister queens.  The food drive lasted most of the day, but we only lasted an hour before Charlotte was done!
This afternoon we met Tucker for lunch at Effie's and went downtown for the downtown Christmas open house. It's always a lot of fun with lots of activities for the kids.
They made ornaments at All About Art.
Daughter Dear ha melting snowmen and reindeer for them to play with (and try to convince me to buy!).
Shopaholic  had a place for them to write and mail letters to Santa.

Julia asked for Lilly the Magical Unicorn. Charlotte asked for the American Girl, Grace. Tucker asked for a BB Gun, 4 wheeler, and "boy stuff".
Style ASAP was styling Cindy Loo Who hair.
There was also horse and carriage rides through downtown.
Charlotte decided after our horse and carriage ride that she wanted Cindy Loo Who hair. It just took her a little while to work up her courage!
JoJo's had a station to make jingle bell necklaces.
Our last stop (besides Milky Moo's for ice cream) was Vanolli. They had Elsa and Olaf, but Elsa had already left when we got there.
Even though we haven't celebrated Thanksgiving yet its certainly beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I can't wait to decorate our house next weekend!

A Day to Remember!

Today was parent visitation for Pod B-1. That meant Michael and I got to go spend time with Julia in her class and eat lunch with her. When I got there I started helping her make her Indian vest. It came as no surprise that she chose Riding Horse as her Indian name again this year.

We knew there was bad weather predicted and central office had already announced that we would release 1:00 due to the threat of severe weather, but after being in Julia's class for about 10 minutes the sirens went off and we were all ushered out of the room into the safe place. Michael didn't even make it in the building! By the time he got there we were locked down in the halls so he went back to his office. We sat in the hall for about 30 minutes before they let parents start leaving with their children. Unfortunately we didn't get to eat our lunch or visit the book fair. It wasn't the parent visitation we had envisioned but it was an unforgettable one for sure!
She was SO excited that I was there and that her daddy was on his way!
The kids knew exactly what to do in severe weather. Some of them realized that this wasn't a drill and got a little upset, but for the most part they were all great!
This was after the severe weather. You can tell she was a little nervous and not quite so carefree.

I checked Rollin and Jase out and took them with me. I swapped Rollin for Charlotte at Nana and Pop's, dropped Julia and Charlotte off with Michael, and headed back to EHS with Jase to help with dismissal. We let out at 1:00 and immediately had to call the students back into the storm shelter where we sat for an hour while we waited for the tornado warning to pass.

We finally got home about 2:30 and crashed! It was such a hectic and crazy day, but I'm so thankful everyone stayed safe! Two more days to finish this week out and then it's Thanksgiving break! It can't get here soon enough!
