Julia's First Sick Baby Visit & First Baseball Game

Last night was a rough night at the Walter's household. Julia was up pretty much all night which is SO unlike her. She would sleep for about 45 minutes before she woke up. If you picked her up & held her she would go right back to sleep but only for about 30 minutes or so. The rest of the time she was screaming. Since that was so unlike her & it is Friday we decided to take her into the doctor just to rule out an ear infection or something. As we suspected the doctor didn't see anything wrong with her but she has become pretty stuffy this afternoon. They did weigh her though & her weight is up to 10 lb. 4 1/2 oz!

This evening Mama, Julia, Michael & I headed to Troy to eat at Mossy Grove Schoolhouse before heading to Brody's All-Star tournament v. Troy. We didn't stay for the entire game, when we left at 10:30 they were just starting the 5th inning out of 7 and the game started at 8:00! They lost but we had a good time watching them play & it's a double-elimination tournament so they play again tomorrow! I think Julia enjoyed her first baseball game!

The sprinklers came on in the middle of the game! I guess they're set to come on at 10:00 pm & somebody forgot to turn the timer off!

Happy Wednesday!

Mom, Julia & I headed to Dothan today to run some errands & of course stop by The Smock Shoppe! This afternoon Julia, Michael & I took dinner to Miss Raley Ann's parents, Troy & Natalie. After we dropped dinner off we headed to Santa Fe to meet Josh & Katie for dinner. We had a great time catching up & didn't make it home until 9:00! Josh & Katie are expecting little Joshua in September. I'm sure there will be some fun dinners in our future with Joshua & Julia! :)

Happy First Father's Day Michael!

This morning Michael got up, got dressed for church & went to get Julia from his parents while I showered & got ready for church. We went to Sunday School at our church & worship service at his parents church with his Dad. Since Shannon & Eleson are back now the whole family was there, we filled up the pew! After church Julia, Michael & I went to Beef O'Bradys to eat & home to nap! After our nap we went to Nana & Pop's to take him his Father's Day card & over to Michael's parents for a yummy dinner. Now we're home & ready to crash! I got him a round of golf at Tartan Pines & Julia got him an engraved picture frame. I hope you had a great first Father's Day Michael!

Play Date & Reunion Time

Today was a busy day! Julia had another play date today, this time at Mrs. Kathy's house with granddaughter Mary Margaret, her Aunt Jessie, Raegan, Donna, & Mrs. Pam, Alysse & Riley, and Hollis. The girls took turns fussing but we still had a great time. Mrs. Kathy was holding Riley & Mary Margaret got very upset. She stuck her lip out & said "My Gigi!". Too cute. :) Mary Margaret is going to be a big sister in the spring so she had to get some practice with a real baby. We had such a good time with everyone & can't wait to do it again!

After our play date I dropped Julia off at mom's for her first night away from home & I headed home to get ready for Michael's 10 year high school reunion! We enjoyed a night of socializing at the Rawl's. We enjoyed catching up with friends. Although most of them were people from around town that we see frequently, we still had a good time.

I think we did pretty good with Julia's first night away & only texted Mom a few times. She did send me this picture about 9:30 to assure me that she was just fine. :)

Sleeping Beauty

Tomorrow we had a picnic in the park and a night of dinner & dancing at the country club. Hopefully we'll be able to squeeze a nap in there sometime too! Here's a few pictures from this evening.

My Dad's Visit

My Dad and Ann have been in Dothan this week visiting Ann's son, Vince and his family. Today they came to Enterprise to have dinner with us and meet Julia. We had a good dinner of pork tenderloin with garlic mashed potatoes, green bean bundles and strawberry shortcake truffle for dessert. Julia was a doll and we all had a good time catching up. We can't wait to see them when we go to Maryland in July.

Lunch with Amber

Today we got up & headed to Dothan with Mama to pick up a bubble suit from The Smock Shoppe that was being pleated & meet Amber for lunch. It was so good to have lunch with Amber. Even though we only live about 25 minutes apart it feels like we're always so busy we never get to hang out anymore! Julia looked around & was so happy during lunch. She got a little fussy at the end but Amber gave her a bottle and she was fine. We ate lunch, picked up the bubble from The Smock Shoppe, ran in Belk to look for a dress for me to wear to Michael's class reunion this weeked (no luck) & stopped by Our New Baby to exchange Julia's bouncy seat (the music quit working on it). When we got back home Julia napped and gave me a chance to try to catch up on some housework before class this evening. Overall, a fairly uneventful day at the Walters household!

Praise Baby

I bought Julia a Praise Baby DVD a few weeks ago & finally popped it in the DVD player for the first time today. She loved it! She was glued to the TV & kicked her legs like crazy. Now that I know she likes it I can't wait to get more, especially the Christmas one! :)

The Atlanta Aquarium

First of all, I can't believe Julia is 6 weeks old today! Time is flying by!

Michael, Julia & I slept until 9:00 this morning! Unfortunately Gale woke up Brock & Amy at 5:00 so by the time we got up & dressed they had been waiting on us for a while! We loaded the car, checked out of the hotel & headed to the Varsity for lunch. We got our food & I started to put salt on my fries. When the salt came out it was redish so I thought, "Oh seasoning salt! I love that", so I loaded my fries down. It wasn't until I ate one that I realized it was Cayenne pepper! There went my fries! Oh well, Michael enjoyed them! Julia has been having tummy troubles the past few days & got a little fussy. There was a table of about 6 older couples who looked to be enjoying lunch after church sitting behind us. I realized they were all staring so I turned to apologize only to have them ask to see her & assure me that was the sweetest sound in the world & not to worry about it. I still felt bad that her crying was disrupting their lunch but at least they didn't make me feel bad about it!
While we were sitting at lunch we began to discuss the Georgia Aquarium. Since it was only $5 more than the World of Coke (& Michael & Brock could tell that while I would enjoy the World of Coke I really wanted to go to the aquarium) we decided to go there instead.

It took us almost 3 & 1/2 hours to see the aquarium but that included 2 stops for baby feedings & 1 for parent feedings.
Julia LOVED the jellyfish. They were in a dark room but the jellyfish tank was lit up. She followed the jellyfish with her eyes & kicked her feet. It was so cute!
She also liked this big tank in the Coldwater exhibit. There were fish swimming overhead & the sun shining in. She looked all around & soaked it all in!This penguin kept swimming by and checking Julia out!
She liked the big tunnel but not as much as I thought she was. She liked the coldwater tank better, I guess because of the light shining through it.
Both babies were pretty good & we got lots of compliments on them. Someone even asked if they were sisters! They're only 5 weeks apart!
We pulled out of the parking deck & headed for Enterprise at 4:29 (central time) & got home about 9:00. We stopped in Auburn & had dinner at a pizza place downtown called Little Italy. We (I) wanted to stop at Provino's, but we didn't think about it until we passed the exit. My brother had mentioned Little Italy several times so we decided to give it a try & were impressed. They had delicious pizza, but next time I think I'll try the calzone.

Julia has been fussy again today so I rode in the backseat with her. After the 3rd time I climbed over the seat I decided I'd just stay back there. She would go to sleep & then wake up screaming. As soon as I got back there she would calm down, go back to sleep & then the pattern would repeat itself. I'm ready for this tummy ache to go away & my sweet girl to come back!

Julia's First Atlanta Trip & Princess Diana Exhibit

Julia, Michael & I headed out about 8:00 this morning to meet Brock, Amy & Gale in Auburn and continue on to Atlanta. We got to Auburn about 10:00, fed Julia while we waited for the Mathews & made it to Atlanta about 2:30. After getting settled in the hotel we made our way to the Atlanta Civic Center for the Diana: A Celebration exhibit. Anybody who knows me knows how much I love Princess Diana so I was extremely excited about this. Michael was a good sport & insisted on taking care of Julia when she got fussy so I could soak it all up. Did I mention that I was the very last person out of the exhibit? We got there about 4:00 & were told that it would be a 2 hour wait to get into the exhibit but it was only about an hour. The tickets were sold out though, so I'm glad I purchased them online that morning! While we were standing in line one of the workers gave the line a riddle & said whoever could figure it out would get a free audio tour. Michael figured it out so we all got free audio tours! I wouldn't have paid for it (they usually bore me) but I was glad to have this one. It took us about 2 hours to get through the exhibit. At 6:55 they started turning out the lights & I politely explained to the security guard that I paid full price for my ticket & I was there at 4:00, which I thought was a reasonable amount of time to see the exhibit before they closed, but I had 2 more dresses to look at & I would greatly appreciate it if they turned the lights back on. The lights came back on, I looked at the last 2 dresses, I thanked the security guard & we were on our way to dinner!

After driving around Midtown looking for someplace to eat we decided to try Mary Mac's Tea Room. Apparently it was featured on the travel channel & everyone from Richard Gere to the Dalai Lama has eaten there. It is "home-cooked" southern food with cinnamon rolls that rival the EHS lunchroom cinnamon rolls! I bought their cookbook in hopes of trying to make them one day. Maybe by the time Julia comes home for the weekend from college I'll have time to make them!

Now we're back at the hotel room hanging out with Brock & Amy while Julia sleeps & Gale plays on the bed. In the morning we're going to the World of Coke & heading back home!

I think our luggage load improved a little bit from the beach!

Waiting to see all the pretty dresses

I snuck a picture of Princess Diana's wedding dress on my phone

The back - the detail work on the train was incredible

Soaking it all in!

Michael listing to his audiotour. I think he kinda regretted winning them because it took us longer to get through the exhibit with them. I enjoyed it though!

Gone Fishing

Today we kicked off the morning with another installment of Saddleridge Ranch. Sarah got up and ready with no problems and we were out the door on time. I think she had a good time, when we left she said "Aunt Sissy, thank you for bring me to Vacation Bible School." She said she wants to go back tomorrow so we'll see!

After lunch we headed back to Dothan to the Smock Shoppe to drop an outfit off to get pleated. Dianne got back from North Carolina this evening and got Sarah from me. Michael got back from fishing late this evening also. They caught their limit of grouper so we should be having fish for dinner one night very soon! :) Julia was wide awake tonight when it was time for her to go to bed. I changed her, fed her, swaddled her and rocked her but she was still bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I guess she wanted to stay awake to see her daddy!

Welcome Kennedy!

Michael's cousin Kelsey, who was a bridesmaid in our wedding, and her husband Kyle welcomed their little girl, Kennedy into the world today! She weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and measured 21 inches long. Congratulations Kyle & Kelsey! We can't wait to get the girls together!
