COLD Weather & A Furniture Disaster

This morning we woke up to COLD weather. I think the thermostat on the truck said 36 when we went to church this morning, but the wind was what was so bad! About 1:30 this morning we woke up to horrible wind! We had some boxes in the carport that need to be carried back upstairs and I had to go out at 1:30 this morning and move them to the back of the carport because they were getting soaked by the blowing rain. I don't think I've ever seen wind & rain that wild before except in a hurricane!
This afternoon Michael and Blake went to Dothan to get the hutch that we found yesterday. The lady at the store had them load it a certain way so that the mirror wouldn't bang on the bed of the truck and break. Instead, the hutch flew out the back of the truck, cleared a lane of traffic and landed in the turn lane, but the mirror didn't break! Needless to say the hutch is not housing our china tonight like I had hoped. When they got to the house with it we decided to see if there was any way it could be salvaged. We called a guy in our church who does woodwork and took it to his house. He's going to look it over tomorrow and give us a call. I just hope he can salvage it without sinking too much more money into it!
The dreaded picture Michael sent me when I didn't believe that it fell out of the truck!
I hope it's fixable!

While Blake & Michael were gone Julia had some exersaucer fun!

Needless to say we didn't make the Christmas Cantata at church tonight, but we did get Julia all bundled up to go see about the hutch! This outfit is actually an outfit that we gave Sararh for her first Christmas. I think Julia looks pretty darn cute in it too!

Crushed Dreams...

Last night I went to bed with dreams of a severe weather day or at least a delay but they were crushed when I woke up to the sun shining through our bedroom window. It seems the rain decided to wait until about 2:30 to start. Perfect timing for the end of the school day! And I don't think any of the severe weather actually made it to us. Oh well, at least we won't have to make it up at the end of the year.

Julia woke up again this morning with a snotty nose although Nana said she had a pretty good day today. I am SO ready for her to feel 100% again!

After I picked Julia up we ran into Wal-Mart and got the ingredients to make chili. It's finally supposed to drop down into the 30's tonight! We spent our evening trying to finish decorating for Christmas and catching up on Glee. While we were decorating for Christmas this
got replaced with this!
Or more realistically this got replaced!
Obviously Julia has not slept in her bassinet in quite a while but it was still hanging out in the corner of our room collecting clothes so while Michael was up in the attic this evening I had him put it upstairs. It's a little sad knowing that she'll never sleep in there again or be that tiny again but I know there's plenty of fun times ahead!

Tonight we gave Julia some of her yogurt melts while we were eating our dinner. She has decided she is not a fan of them and knocked a couple on the floor while she was playing with them. Shortly after she discovered that while she may not like yogurt melts, the dogs do! She was so funny knocking them on the floor and watching the dogs eat them. She loves Nelli and Caddy!
Mama bought her a Little People Nativity Set for a "pre-Christmas" present so after dinner while Michael and I were watching Glee I pulled it out and let her play with it on the floor. She loves it! I have been looking for a nice nativity set for us for a while now and can't find one that I like in a decent price range with all the pieces that I want so I joked to Mama that Julia has a real nativity set before I do!
Julia is now snuggled in tight in her bed. I think she likes sleeping in the rain almost as much as her Mama. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a long and fun day! I got up this morning while Julia and Michael were still sleeping and headed to Wal-Mart. When I got home I got my Thanksgiving contributions(green bean bundles and peas) ready to cook while Michael fed Julia.
She also enjoyed a biter biscuit while she helped me cook.
I think she plays with the biter biscuits more than she eats them!
Then we settled in to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving!
She loved it!
Next we headed to Aunt Donna's for Thanksgiving lunch. Julia enjoyed turkey, sweet potatoes, and mac and cheese! Then Julia had playtime at Aunt Donna's. She had to make sure everyone was paying attention to her!
After playtime Julia helped Nana & Mama clean up the kitchen.
Then it was time to go home.
When we got home Julia crashed for a little nap. I think all that triptophane in her turkey finally caught up with her. ;)
Only rotten little girls need to sleep with two lovies!
She was a happy baby when she woke up from her nap!
Taking pictures has gotten difficult lately. She tries so hard to crawl away!

We headed to Granddad and GranDi's this evening.
Sarah and Julia watched a little TV before dinner.
After dinner Julia was ready for another catnap.
Julia's First Thanksgiving
The whole family
When we got home tonight Julia was ready for a little snack. She thought her feet looked tasty.
Then she posed for some pretty pictures for me.
Everything goes in her mouth lately, especially her hands!

Then it was time for bed. I've tried to explain to Julia the excitement of Black Friday shopping but I'm not sure she gets it.
Either way, she's getting rested up for a pretty big football game tomorrow afternoon!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Sick Baby

Julia woke up this morning coughing and even more congested than yesterday. Michael and I went ahead to work but Michael called Dr. Whitaker's office when they opened at 8:30 to get her an appointment. They couldn't get her in until 3:20 which was sort of good because it meant I got to go with her but I didn't have to take any time off.

The diagnosis is Julia's first cold. Dr. Whitaker basically told us to keep doing what we're doing (suctioning her nose, giving her Sudafed) and to elevate the head of her bed. Michael put some wood under one end tonight so maybe that will help. Her right ear was red, but not infected. We got a prescription for penicillan in case it develops into an ear infection or if she is not better by the end of the week.

She is pretty pitiful and everytime she coughs she cries. I don't know if it's because it scares her or if it's because it hurts but either was it's pitiful! I hope she feels better soon!
Waiting on Dr. Whitaker
Playing with the remote control
Getting some snuggle time in

She loves her exersaucer!
