Back to School!

After a week off last week Julia went back to school today. It sounds like they pulled out the welcoming committee for her! I'm so glad she goes to a school where she is missed.
This afternoon Julia and I stayed at Nana and Pop's and ate dinner with them since it was "visiting night" for Michael. He stopped by there before going to church and when he walked in the door Julia met him and said what I promise you sounded like "What's up, playa!". Lord help us if that's what she really said!

Uncle Blake's back!

Julia napped for most of the afternoon after we got back from church. When she did wake up we played for a little while and Uncle Blake came over to bring her the moose and bib that he brought her from Canada and Maine. He was up there this past week for work. She has carried her moose all around the house saying "Look Mama! A moose!"

When I woke up from my nap this afternoon I heard Michael on the phone booking our Disney trip. We're going for 3 days at the end of my Spring Break in March. I'm so excited about taking Julia to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie!

A Big Girl Bed for Julia

This morning we got up and headed out for our Saturday morning breakfast, this time at the BP. Unfortunately, we slept in a little this morning and by the time we got to the BP they were running low on breakfast foods!

After breakfast we met Mom at Singer and got some fabric to make Julia the cutest dress for Spring, as well as some supplies to make some baby gifts for Baby Stella! After our stop at Singer we headed out to Dothan!
Keeping herself entertained with stickers before we headed to Dothan

When I checked the mail on our way out Julia had a package from Ellen. She sent her a Hop on Pop read along book for a belated Christmas present. We put the CD in and Julia "read" the book. She loved it!

Our first stop was at Our New Baby where we intended to get the toddler conversion kit for Julia's bed. She has been sleeping with us since we discovered that she can practically climb out of her bed, so I figured it was time to make the switch. Unfortunately, making the switch means admitting my baby is growing up and I'm not very happy about that!

While we were there we discovered two things. The first thing we discovered is that we don't have to have a toddler conversion kit for her bed, we can take the front off and convert it to a day bed without having to buy anything. While we were there she climbed right up in a toddler bed, said "Bed! Bed" and laid her head down to go to sleep. This gave us hope that even though I'm not ready to move her out of her crib, maybe she is ready.

The other thing we discovered is that her furniture is being discontinued. One of the reasons we went with furniture at Our New Baby is because I liked the fact that later on we could purchase nightstands, mirrors, chests, etc  that matched her furniture since her crib converts to a full size bed and will likely be either in her room or a future guest room in our house, so this was disappointing news. What was more disappointing was learning that the only pieces they could get were another crib, a dresser, and a mirror. The only thing we could have used was the mirror, but it just wasn't worth it for the price right now. They did have one night stand from another line by the same company that was the same stain and a similar style, and guess what. That line is being discontinued too! So, to end a long story we ended up coming home with a nightstand for Julia!

After a stop at Hobby Lobby and the mall we came home and Michael took the front off of Julia's crib before a belated birthday dinner for Shannon at his parents house. When we got home Julia was excited about her new bed, but when I asked her if she wanted to sleep in her new bed and she said, "No. Still with Daddy"! HA!

And this is the face we got when she realized we wanted her to sleep in there, by herself, and not in our bed!

The good news is she's asleep in her bed, at least for now! We tried putting her in her bed and leaving the room, but she just came to the baby gate at her door and pulled at it and cried so Michael went in and laid on the floor next to her until she fell asleep. Now the count is on to see how long she stays in there!

Ice Cream!

Tyler and Charity came over for dinner tonight. Michael made some yummy duck gumbo from the ducks that they killed in Mississippi last weekend. We had ice cream for dessert. I'll let you decide if you think Julia enjoyed hers or not!

They also brought Julia the cutest Minnie Mouse cell phone. It calls Donald and Mickey and they talk to you. She has walked around all evening talking to "Nonald". :)

On the Mend

Thankfully Julia seems to be feeling much better today. She's still not feeling 100%, but she hasn't had a fever since this morning and it was only 100.2 then.
Sleeping her fever off on Mommy this morning

We got dressed this afternoon and went to run a few errands. Julia loves to help me put Nelli and Caddy in there kennels. Apparently they looked fun because when she went to put Nelli in her kennel she got in too! When I walked in and saw her she laughed and said "Bye Mama! See you!"
One of our errands was the bank, where Julia got a sucker!
This afternoon we got out the markers and paper and colored some pictures. She loves to color,  I just have to make sure it's on the paper and not the wall, floor, table, etc.!
Since I was home today and Julia was feeling better I actually made a real dinner: crockpot bbq chicken, fruit salad, roasted potatoes, butter beans and garlic bread. It was nothing too impressive, but when I think about how long its been since I actually cooked a meal it's impressive that I didn't burn the house down! After dinner Mom stopped by for a few minutes between children's choir and adult choir and then we went over to Granddad and Grandi's for a little while. Julia got to love on 2 sets of grandparents tonight - what a lucky girl!

Fever Baby

Julia woke up this morning acting kinda puny and very cuddly so we didn't make it to church. Her forehead felt warm to me and when I checked her temperature about 9:45 it was 100.2. At 2:45 it was at 103 and after some Tylenol is was down to 101.8 around 4:30.

It's down around 101 right now, but I'm still alternating Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours. I've already called a sub for tomorrow, but I'm hoping Julia and I can get some good rest tonight and that she'll be feeling better tomorrow.

And I'll leave you with spme pictures of our day today. We have snuggled, napped, and played on the "book" for most of the day!
The flash on my iPhone was too bright for Julia! I'll be SO happy to have my camera back!

An Eventful Friday Night!

Well tonight turned interesting real quick! We went to eat dinner at Cutts tonight with Mama, Nana, Aunt Donna, & Kenneth. As Julia and I were turning into the parking lot Michael called. In the commotion of trying to get Julia out of the car, get her stuff, get us inside and talk to Michael I locked my keys in my car! I didn't realize it until we were ready to go so Mom said she would run to my house and get my spare. Well, when she went to crank her car it wouldn't start! It was not our night! Mimi and Papa Thad were at Cutts also so they took me to get my spare key while Mr. Jim tried to get Mom's car started. Unfortunately, they couldn't get Mom's car started so she had to leave it there. I hate that they couldn't get it started, but after chasing Julia in the parking lot for almost 2 hours I was ready to get home!
Michael sent me this picture today of his kill. I think you can tell by the expression on his face that he's having a good time!
Since we've been home tonight Julia has been paying extra attention to the dogs. After I fed them she was afraid that they didn't eat enough so she brought them their bowls into the bedroom and said "Caddy! Eat! Nelli! Eat!". The dogs were highly disappointed when they realized there was nothing else to eat!

Ok, I'm going to try to calm down this wound up child and hope for some good rest tonight!

Girl's Weekend has Begun!

Michael left this afternoon to go duck hunting in Mississippi so "Girl's Weekend" has officially started! When I went to pick Julia up from Nana & Pop's this afternoon she was playing with my old doll house. Nana made some blankets for the beds out of scraps from her bedding and she loved covering the people up.

Tonight we met Harrison and Natalie at McLin's for dinner. I love going to McLin's to eat because they have rooms and we can shut the door and let Julia get down, which she loves! She and Harrison played hide and seek after dinner.
I sent Michael this picture tonight. Julia decided to get in touch with her creative side, it's just too bad it was on our wall and not on her paper!

Mommy's Little Helper

Michael grilled steaks for dinner tonight and Julia helped me make the salad to go with it!

The Best Monday's are No School Monday's!

This morning I got up and had a photo session downtown with sweet Libby and Suzie. Today is Suzie's first birthday and Libby turns 2 in February. Afterwards Michael and Julia met me at Milky Moo's for lunch. Julia didn't want to sit in the high chair and did suprisingly well without it. She even ate all of her hot dog!

When we got to Milky Moo's I took my camera out of my bag to take a picture of Julia and my camera wouldn't autofocus! I'm hoping that if I give it a little rest it will fix itself, if not it looks like I'll be calling Nikon Customer Service in the morning.
This afternoon we went to the park for a little while. We decided to go to Westside Park and it was a nice change from Johnny Henderson. Julia really like the tall slide, but it was tiring trying to get her to the top!
Back to the grind tomorrow, at least it's a short week!
