The girls and I did some baking for Thanksgiving tomorrow. We made a cinnamon roll apple pie. We haven't tasted it yet, but it looks and smells good. These girls love to cook and be in the kitchen!
Charlotte had her Thanksgiving program today at FUMC. She woke up SO excited this morning. She was ready to go as soon as we took Julia to school even though her program wasn't until 10:00! I stalled her a little bit while I took a shower and got dressed and then we took some pictures, but by 8:30 we were at Panera for breakfast. We got to church super early and sat in the car for about 15 minutes until it was time to go in. She was just so excited she could hardly stand it!
Her class was Indians so she had to dress the part!
Breakfast date at Panera
She smiled so big and did so good. She has been so excited all day, even after her program!
This week was Iron Bowl spirit week at dance. The girls got to wear their favorite team colors and do some fun activities at dance.
The girls and I went to Dothan tonight to run a few errands while Michael was at the Troy game. Charlotte didn't nap today, but when we got to Dothan she was OUT! That's some good sleep!
When we got back from Dothan we took our first trip through the Christmas lights at the Trawick's. The girls were so excited to see all the lights!
We had a fun, but busy day. We only have one more day of school left this week and then we get a whole week off for Thanksgiving! I can't wait!
Today was parent visitation for Julia's class. Michael and I both got to go have Thanksgiving lunch with her in the lunchroom. We loved getting to spend some special time with her and I think she loved having us at school with her for a little while.
Julia has been asking to make turkey cupcakes for days so we finally went to the grocery store and got the stuff to make them along with the rest of our groceries for Thanksgiving. Every single buggy that we passed in the grocery store got a "happy Thanksgiving" from the girls.
The girls loved making the cupcakes this afternoon. I'm pretty sure their favorite part was licking the batter bowl!
She was so proud of her turkey!
I would say we're well on our way to being ready for Thanksgiving!
Today was parent visitation for Pod B-1. That meant Michael and I got to go spend time with Julia in her class and eat lunch with her. When I got there I started helping her make her Indian vest. It came as no surprise that she chose Riding Horse as her Indian name again this year.
We knew there was bad weather predicted and central office had already announced that we would release 1:00 due to the threat of severe weather, but after being in Julia's class for about 10 minutes the sirens went off and we were all ushered out of the room into the safe place. Michael didn't even make it in the building! By the time he got there we were locked down in the halls so he went back to his office. We sat in the hall for about 30 minutes before they let parents start leaving with their children. Unfortunately we didn't get to eat our lunch or visit the book fair. It wasn't the parent visitation we had envisioned but it was an unforgettable one for sure!
She was SO excited that I was there and that her daddy was on his way!
The kids knew exactly what to do in severe weather. Some of them realized that this wasn't a drill and got a little upset, but for the most part they were all great!
This was after the severe weather. You can tell she was a little nervous and not quite so carefree.
I checked Rollin and Jase out and took them with me. I swapped Rollin for Charlotte at Nana and Pop's, dropped Julia and Charlotte off with Michael, and headed back to EHS with Jase to help with dismissal. We let out at 1:00 and immediately had to call the students back into the storm shelter where we sat for an hour while we waited for the tornado warning to pass.
We finally got home about 2:30 and crashed! It was such a hectic and crazy day, but I'm so thankful everyone stayed safe! Two more days to finish this week out and then it's Thanksgiving break! It can't get here soon enough!
Julia had her first Thanksgiving program today at Miss Julie's. It was precious. She was precious. Everything was precious. She did such a good job, I was one proud mama!
Charlotte was there too, but she wasn't too interested in taking a picture. Julia kept taking her headband off and saying "Look Cha Cha, it's just me, Julia".
My beautiful Riding Horse
Practicing her bow and arrow skills like any good Indian
We got out of school this afternoon for a whole week! Woo hoo! The girls and I celebrated with some outside playtime while we waited on Daddy to get home. Their favorite part was the wagon ride. I hope this beautiful weather sticks around and we get lots of outside playtime in this week!
