Music & Missions

I am beat! Today was our first day with students and this is exhausting enough, but we also have Music and Missions kick off at church tonight. I can hardly function right now.
I missed these sweet girls so much today!

Julia has been so excited because she will be in my choir class this year. I think she was a little confused tonight though, she thought we were going to my school!

A long day!

I got to sleep in this morning! Woo hoo! Since we had open house tonight we got to come in a little late this morning.  I'm afraid it may have been a bad idea though since I'll have to be up bright and early for our first day with students tomorrow. I had open house tonight and Michael had council so that meant Mom had the girls from about 9:30 until I got done with Open House around 7:30. It was a long day for everyone!

I met mom and the girls at Rodeo's tonight when I was done. I ordered Charlotte her normal chicken quesadilla but all she wanted to eat was tomatoes! The girl is going to turn into a tomato!
This is the only bulletin board in my room. I tried to do it so that it could be left up all year if I wanted to as opposed to a back to school board. I think it's a good message for kids (and adults) year round!
It took almost no time for Julia to go to sleep tonight. These early mornings are getting to her (and me)! It's only Tuesday and I'm already looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday!
Tomorrow is the big day, the first day with students! Ready or not here they come!

Happy Birthday, Meg!

Today was promotion Sunday at church. I'm not sure who was happier to see the other one, Ms. Sue or Julia! I'm so excited that she's going to be teaching Julia's Sunday School class this year!

We went to Santa Fe after church, so of course the girls had to take a picture on the bull.
Michael and I went up to school to work in my room some before heading to Ozark for Meg's surprise 30th birthday. Julia & Charlotte had fun playing with all of the kids. Julia collected a bunch of leaves and stuck them in her bloomers. When I told her to take them out, she informed me that they were not just leaves, they were her peacock feathers!
Showing off her peacock feathers!
Strong Tucker pulling all the girls in the wagon!

I have my classroom almost ready, so I guess that means I'm almost ready for kids to come on Wednesday!

TGIF

Michael took this picture this morning. Even he is a sucker for a sleeping baby!
The girls were both in pretty good moods when they woke up this morning. Charlotte wasn't near as happy about Friday morning coming so early as she looks in her picture!
Mom had a pool party today with the current and retired second grade teachers at WES. She was brave enough to take all three girls with her. I can't believe she survived!

Dianne, Shannon, and I got to the beach around 6:15 for our shopping trip. We called The Melting Pot to see if we needed a reservation and got one for 7:45. We left our hotel about 7:30 to drive the few miles to the restaurant. Traffic was backed up so bad that we couldn't even get out of the parking lot. We later learned that there was a 6-10 car accident. We saw 5 ambulances go in and out. It took us over an hour to go the few miles from our hotel to The Melting Pot. It was worth it though! The traffic out the window of the restaurant was still backed up so we weren't very hopeful about a short trip home but it ended up only talking a few minutes longer than normal.

I am ready for bed and to rest up for some shopping tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Lilly & Uncle Tom!

I had new teacher orientation today. I was pretty bummed that Julia had a fun birthday party that I was going to miss, but we finished our morning session early and got to have a long lunch that perfectly coincided with the birthday party!

Julia's best friend, Lilly, celebrated her 4th birthday with a Frozen party at Cupcakes Y'all. The party was complete with the real Elsa. I was surprised that Julia was pretty standoffish with Elsa. Elsa sang Frozen songs with the girls and let them use her microphone but Julia wasn't interested. I walked out of the party room to get a drink and the other moms started yelling for me that Julia was singing.

Julia & Elsa - she was a GREAT Elsa!

Julia has been asking to go to the car wash for a week now so I finally broke down and went this afternoon. Charlotte doesn't think the car wash is near as fun as Julia does!
Today we celebrated Uncle Tom's birthday with dinner at Rodeo's.
Julia and Natalie thought they were going to blow out Uncle Tom's candles but he got them!

I have one more day of freedom before I'm back to work. We're gonna make the most of it tomorrow!

Sofia's Frozen Amulet

The girls woke up bright and early this morning ready to get our day started.  This little ham got into my swimsuits while I was in the shower.

We bought the stuff to make "Sofia's Magical Amulets" yesterday. They have been showing these on Disney Junior all summer and she has been talking about them for weeks. She even knows that the recipe is on "disneyjunior.com/disheswithdisney". Last night I put the grape juice amulets in the freezer and this morning we made the frozen yogurt pops.
We mixed all the ingredients in a ziploc bag.
Then, we put that ziploc bag inside another ziploc bag with ice and salt and shook it up!
Last, we spooned them in the popsicle molds and put them in the freezer.

We met Michael for lunch at Jimmy Johns and ran some errands before we came home for naptime. Charlotte slept on the couch while Julia watched a movie and had some quiet time.
We ate dinner at Larry's tonight and came home to have our "Sofia's Frozen Amulets" for dessert. Before we were done I was promising I wouldn't do anything like this until they are older! Julia did ok but Charlotte got it everywhere! I don't know why but this was much messier than a normal popsicle.  At one point I looked over at Charlotte and she was using her yogurt pop to paint the house!
We've all had baths and are ready for bed now. I have new teacher orientation tomorrow. I'm gonna miss my girls tons!
