Always keeping us on our toes!

Well, today has been interesting. When Julia went to sleep last night we noticed she was coughing a lot. At 12:30 she woke us up coughing for the second time that night. When she wouldn't calm down we tried giving her some water, which didn't help, so Michael turned on the light to check her temperature. When he turned the light on we saw her laying in an almost fetal position, shivering and noticed that she was very pale and her lips were blue. We both immediately said we needed to go to the hospital, so we quickly got dressed and headed out.
Once we got to the emergecny room they immediately took her back and got an IV started (on the first try!!). She saw the doctor and had a chest x-ray, which came back clear. She also vomitted one time while we were in the ER. She retrieved a breathing treatment and then her fever quickly spiked to 103.7, so she got some Tylenol and Dr. Drew told us that they would be admitting Julia to the hospital. Julia had the nurses down there wrapped around her little finger, I think they were a little sad to see her go. They kept telling me how cute and smart she was, and of course all I could do was agree because they're right! Everytime someone did something, whether it was poke her or what she would say "thank you" and she kept saying "we did it" when they were starting her IV. (They did have to redo her IV in her left arm because there was a kink in the line, but they got it on the first try also).

Pitiful baby in the ER

About 3:30 we got settled in room 428 upstairs to try to get some sleep. She's getting breathing treatments every 2-3 hours so that interruprs our sleep, but luckily she sleeps through them if she's already asleep. Now if she's awake it's another story - you would think we are using a medeival torture device on her based on the amout of screaming and "help"'s coming from her room.
Dr.Whitaker came around about 8:00 this morning to check on her. He said that it is probably a virus, but he tested her for whooping cough just to be safe, even though she has been vacinated. He is continuing her amoxicillan from Monday (she now has an ear infection in her right ear) and started her on zithromax, which will cover whooping cough if she does have it.

She seems to be a lot better today, but she usually pulls her tricks at night so we'll see how tonight goes. She has a lot of visitors today including Nonny, Uncle Blake, Granddad, GranDi, Nana, Pop, Uncle Tom, Brother Ben, Brother Sonny, Mrs. Catherine, Mrs. Lindsay, Libby, Susie, Mr. John, Mrs, Joanna, Mr. Brock, Mrs. Amy, and Gale. Mrs. Sue and Mrs. Janene also came by and brought her goodies from school since she missed her last day today.

 Watching TV
Trying to get her to eat something - even chocolate ice cream didn't do the trick!
Going for a walk around the floor. She thought she was going to get to escape, she kept saying "Go to Mommy's car?" Don't you love the socks?!
Watching TV with Mommy
Right now she is watching Little Einsteins, but I'm hoping she will go to sleep once this episode is over. She has finally eaten some French Fries with ketchup, the most she's really had since last Friday. They'll be back in about an hour with another breathing treatment, so hopefully she'll be out before then so it won't be another traumatic battle!
