A Big Girl Bed for Julia

This morning we got up and headed out for our Saturday morning breakfast, this time at the BP. Unfortunately, we slept in a little this morning and by the time we got to the BP they were running low on breakfast foods!

After breakfast we met Mom at Singer and got some fabric to make Julia the cutest dress for Spring, as well as some supplies to make some baby gifts for Baby Stella! After our stop at Singer we headed out to Dothan!

When I checked the mail on our way out Julia had a package from Ellen. She sent her a Hop on Pop read along book for a belated Christmas present. We put the CD in and Julia "read" the book. She loved it!

Our first stop was at Our New Baby where we intended to get the toddler conversion kit for Julia's bed. She has been sleeping with us since we discovered that she can practically climb out of her bed, so I figured it was time to make the switch. Unfortunately, making the switch means admitting my baby is growing up and I'm not very happy about that!

While we were there we discovered two things. The first thing we discovered is that we don't have to have a toddler conversion kit for her bed, we can take the front off and convert it to a day bed without having to buy anything. While we were there she climbed right up in a toddler bed, said "Bed! Bed" and laid her head down to go to sleep. This gave us hope that even though I'm not ready to move her out of her crib, maybe she is ready.

The other thing we discovered is that her furniture is being discontinued. One of the reasons we went with furniture at Our New Baby is because I liked the fact that later on we could purchase nightstands, mirrors, chests, etc  that matched her furniture since her crib converts to a full size bed and will likely be either in her room or a future guest room in our house, so this was disappointing news. What was more disappointing was learning that the only pieces they could get were another crib, a dresser, and a mirror. The only thing we could have used was the mirror, but it just wasn't worth it for the price right now. They did have one night stand from another line by the same company that was the same stain and a similar style, and guess what. That line is being discontinued too! So, to end a long story we ended up coming home with a nightstand for Julia!

After a stop at Hobby Lobby and the mall we came home and Michael took the front off of Julia's crib before a belated birthday dinner for Shannon at his parents house. When we got home Julia was excited about her new bed, but when I asked her if she wanted to sleep in her new bed and she said, "No. Still with Daddy"! HA!

And this is the face we got when she realized we wanted her to sleep in there, by herself, and not in our bed!

The good news is she's asleep in her bed, at least for now! We tried putting her in her bed and leaving the room, but she just came to the baby gate at her door and pulled at it and cried so Michael went in and laid on the floor next to her until she fell asleep. Now the count is on to see how long she stays in there!
